Tents & Trees A free offline logic puzzle game for Android, with 800 hand-made levels in 21 languages.
Give every tree its own tent. Keep the tents from touching. Match the numbers along the edges. That is the whole game, and out of those three rules come 800 hand-made puzzles that can always be reasoned out, and never need to be guessed at.
Tents & Trees is a free, offline, single-player logic puzzle game for Android, made by BetuWorks. It is also known as Trees and Tents, and appears on Google Play as “Tents and Trees: Logic Grid”.
The rules, in thirty seconds
A board is a grid with trees on it. You place tents.
- One tent per tree. Every tree has exactly one tent in a square directly beside it: up, down, left or right. Never diagonally.
- Tents never touch. No two tents may share an edge or even a corner. Every square around a tent stays clear.
- Match the numbers. The number beside each row and column is how many tents that line holds.
Marking a square as grass means “no tent here”. Ruling squares out is how the puzzle is actually solved, and it is never penalised. If you want the longer version, with the deductions that get you through a hard board, read how to play Tents & Trees.
Why you never have to guess
Every puzzle in the game has exactly one solution, and every puzzle can be reached by pure deduction. That is not a claim about intent; it is enforced before a board is allowed anywhere near a player.
A solver plays each candidate board using only techniques a person can carry out. A square touching no tree can never hold a tent; a line whose free squares exactly equal its outstanding count is all tents; a tree with one free neighbour left has found its tent; a group of trees competing for too few squares forces one of them. If the solver finishes the board this way, the board is sound. If it cannot, the board is thrown away.
The uniqueness guarantee falls out of the same run for free. A forced deduction holds in every solution a board could have, so if two different solutions existed, the squares where they disagreed could never have been forced, and the solver would have stalled. Finishing logically is the proof that the answer is the only one.
The practical result is the thing that matters: when you are stuck in Tents & Trees, there is always a next deduction available. You are never being asked to try something and see.
8 ways to play
Levels
8 ladders of 100 levels, each split into 10 chapters. 4 classic ladders run Easy to Expert; 4 are rule variants. Undo, hint and check are all available.
Daily
8 puzzles every day: the 4 difficulties plus one of each variant. Everyone in the world gets the same set, generated from the date with no server involved. Solving any one keeps your streak.
Zen
Endless puzzles, no timer, no score, nothing to lose. Pick a size or mix them. No ads between puzzles.
Time Attack
5 minutes, fixed 6×6 boards, as many solves as you can manage. Undo only, with no hints and no checking. Ranked on a leaderboard.
Hardcore
12 boards escalating from 6×6 to 10×10 on one draining clock. Correct tents buy seconds, wrong ones cost double. No undo, no hints, no pausing.
Lab
Build your own mode: pick a size up to 13×13, a difficulty band, tent density and any combination of rule variants, then save it to a slot and play it endlessly. Hints inside Lab are free and unlimited.
Regions, endless
The Regions variant on tap, in the same shape as Zen, at any size from 6×6 to 10×10.
Seasonal events
12 recurring monthly events, each a fresh 100-level track in 10 tiers. A tier is claimed at 8 of 10, so 2 levels a block can be skipped without a dead end.
4 rule variants
Most implementations of this puzzle ship the classic ruleset and stop. Each variant here gets its own full ladder of 100 levels, its own 10 chapters and its own star pool.
Tents Only
The grass marks are gone. A tap moves a square straight between empty and tent, so you have to hold the eliminations in your head instead of writing them down.
Regions
The row and column numbers disappear. Instead the board is divided into irregular coloured regions, and each region carries its own tent count.
Rivers
A river cuts through the grid. Tents cannot pair with trees across water, and two tents may sit side by side if the river runs between them.
Torus
The board edges wrap around. A tent on the last column is adjacent to the first, and deductions carry straight across the seam. Even chapters wrap one axis; odd chapters wrap both.
How it is paid for
Tents & Trees is free, and it is funded by advertising. Since that is the part players are most often lied to about, here is exactly what it does.
- There are no banner ads. Not on the board, not on the menus, nowhere. There are no app-open ads either.
- No ad ever interrupts a puzzle. Interstitials appear only at a boundary: after a solve, or at the end of a run.
- New players see nothing. No ads at all until you have solved 2 puzzles, and never before your first solve in a session.
- There is a floor of 3 minutes between interstitials, and a 2-second notice before each one, carrying a link to remove them.
- Zen is ad-free between puzzles, and daily puzzles never require an ad to get a hint.
- Rewarded ads are entirely optional. 5 free hints per puzzle come first.
- One purchase removes the interstitials permanently. It is a single one-time purchase, not a subscription. Rewarded hint ads stay available to owners who want them.
Nothing in the game is behind a paywall. Every theme, every campsite piece and every badge is unlocked by playing. There are no coins, no energy meters and no grind.
What leaves your phone
Generating, solving and saving puzzles all happen on the device. There is no gameplay server, no account, and no request for your name, email or contacts. Your progress lives in your phone's own storage; uninstalling the app removes it, and BetuWorks has no copy.
The daily reminder is scheduled locally on the device. It is not a push notification and does not travel through a server. Ads, crash reporting and analytics do use the network, analytics only after you consent to it, and the full detail is in the privacy policy.

Questions
What is Tents & Trees?
Tents & Trees is a free single-player logic puzzle game for Android, made by BetuWorks. You are shown a grid containing trees. You must give every tree its own tent in a square directly beside it, keep any two tents from touching including diagonally, and match the tent count printed beside every row and column. The puzzle is also known as Trees and Tents.
Does it work offline?
Yes. All gameplay works with no connection at all. Puzzles ship inside the app and new ones are generated on the device itself. There is no gameplay server and no account, so nothing has to be downloaded or synced before you can play. A connection is only used for optional extras such as ads, cloud save and leaderboards.
Do you ever have to guess?
No. Every puzzle has exactly one solution, and every puzzle is checked by a solver using only human deduction techniques before it ships. If the solver cannot finish a board without guessing, that board is discarded rather than published.
Is it free?
Yes. The game is free to download, and every level, theme and campsite decoration unlocks purely by playing. There are no coins, no energy timers and no paywalled content. One optional one-time purchase removes the interstitial ads.
Are there banner ads?
No. There is no banner ad anywhere in the game, and no app-open ad. The only ads are occasional full-screen interstitials between puzzles, never during one, plus optional rewarded ads for extra hints. New players see no ads at all until they have solved 2 puzzles.
How many levels are there?
800 hand-made levels, arranged as 8 ladders of 100. 4 ladders are the classic ruleset from Easy to Expert, and 4 are rule variants. Grids run from 5×5 up to 11×11.
On top of that, the Daily, Zen, Time Attack, Hardcore, Regions and Lab modes generate unlimited fresh puzzles on the device, so the game does not run out.
Which languages does it support?
21: English, Dutch, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Polish, Indonesian, Vietnamese, Japanese, Korean, Traditional Chinese, Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, Finnish, Turkish, Thai, Czech and Hungarian.
Is there an iPhone version?
Not at the moment. Tents & Trees is on Google Play for Android only, and an iOS version is not released.
